In 2019, pianist Ulf Kleiner recorded on Klangraum’s Steinway grand piano, initially to create film music for the Klangraum library. Instead, the recordings resulted in a collection of minimal music, acoustic groove and jazz, which is now featured on his solo piano album PIANOSKOP, released in 2020 on Klangraum Records (KRR 085).
One year later, the time had come to execute the original idea: ‚Acoustic Piano For Movies‘ was recorded on a matured Ibach upright piano, which had been fitted with special felt to create an intimate, warm and wide sound. Some tunes feature the sound of picked and damped stringss can be heard on PIANOSKOP. The intention was to compile a collection of piano pieces and themes which are atmospheric and calm, at times experimental, but not too demanding in order to be suited for various cinematic moods and purposes.
